Organize around work, not decoration

A readable base lets you answer three questions quickly: who is working, where output is accumulating and what is blocking the next expedition. Group related production where that improves oversight, keep routes visible and avoid filling every open space before you know what later buildings require.

Use the construction tools deliberately

Height adjustment helps fit structures to terrain and control visual overlap. Drag-to-build speeds repeated placement, but it also makes overbuilding easier. Confirm the building's role and input needs before laying out a large row.

Building details include tutorial access. Use those explanations as the first authority for a structure instead of relying on a layout screenshot from a different build.

Keep critical work stable

Auto-assignment is a strong default because it considers relevant stats. Review its result after population or job changes. Lock assignments for roles whose interruption would break food, hauling or a key production chain, and use standby assignment to make idle capacity visible.

Adults can wait at Victory Square for enlistment, so the square is also an operational point rather than mere scenery. Leave enough clarity around important hubs to notice queues and state changes.

Check the base before leaving

Before an expedition, verify that food and necessary production continue without the deployed soldiers. Use the crafting-time HUD to see whether a needed item will actually finish. A base that only works while the player manually corrects it is not yet expedition-ready.
