Field answer
The Prologue is a free, limited slice of Pax Autocratica, while Early Access is intended to include the full colony-to-combat loop at a larger scale. Official Prologue material says deeper automation, mechs and other later-game mechanics are absent from the slice.
Quick facts
- Prologue release: December 1, 2025
- The December 1 Demo and Prologue builds were officially described as identical
- The Prologue covers a smaller base and battle scale
- Deeper automation and mechs are absent from the Prologue
- Historical content totals must not be treated as current Early Access totals
The practical difference
Use the Prologue to sample the interaction between a starter colony and early combat. Use Early Access for the broader progression promise: a larger settlement, more elaborate production, later combat layers and the full return loop between expedition gains and colony growth.
| Area | Prologue | Early Access direction |
|---|---|---|
| Colony | Smaller starting slice | Broader colony progression |
| Battle scale | Limited examples | Larger infantry, vehicle and mech warfare |
| Automation | Deeper automation absent | Deeper production systems are a key difference |
| Mechs | Absent | Included in the official full-game pitch |
| Late-game mechanics | Intentionally omitted | Wider progression intended |
Why old totals need a date label
An official historical breakdown described the Prologue as one sector out of four, with smaller subsets of buffs, buildings, weapons, classes, troop types and policies. Those figures are useful evidence that the Prologue was designed as a fraction of the target build. They are not a live database.
This guide therefore preserves the direction and avoids presenting the old Early Access side of that table as today's verified inventory. Counts can change through balance passes, scope changes and launch updates even when the broad distinction remains true.
Which version should a new player use?
Before the paid build unlocks, the Prologue is the official free slice. After Steam confirms the unlock, choose based on whether you want the contained introduction or the expanding work-in-progress. Multiverse has announced regional launch prices and a two-week discount, while the live store remains authoritative for checkout amounts. Save support has an official answer, but migration interface details and launch-specific issues require the current build.
FAQ
Is the Prologue the same as the old Demo?
A December 2025 moderator answer says the then-current Demo and Prologue contained the same updated trial build. It also warns that older pre-December Demo material was retired.
Does the Prologue include mechs?
No. The official Prologue page explicitly lists mechs among the fuller-game mechanics absent from the Prologue slice.
Can I use Prologue totals as Early Access totals?
No. The published comparison was a dated preview and its Early Access numbers were subject to change before launch.
