The historical issue was not simply black bars. A developer described UI stretching above 21:9 that could make controls impossible to click. Record the desktop resolution, in-game resolution, display mode and whether the issue appears from first launch or after settings change.

Official pre-launch hotfix

The pinned Steam instruction is:

  1. Exit the game.
  2. Press Win + R.
  3. Open %appdata%/../locallow/Multiverse/Pax Autocratica.
  4. Delete Screen.ini.
  5. Relaunch the game so the file can be rebuilt.

Why this is not a blanket fix

Deleting a settings file resets stored display configuration; it does not prove that every panel is authored for every extreme aspect ratio. A launch update can also change the file format or make the step unnecessary. Use the Current Build panel and official post date before following it.
